Women's Health Physiotherapy Brisbane

What Is Women's Health Physiotherapy?

As a woman, it can be easy to fall into the trap of normalising discomfort, whether that is the toll pregnancy takes on your body, pelvic floor issues, or menopause-related changes. Many women spend years managing these conditions in silence, not realising that physiotherapy can help.

Women’s health physio employs a variety of treatment techniques from different disciplines to alleviate the everyday aches and pains – as well as more serious conditions – that women are all too used to minimising or ignoring.

What Women's Health Physiotherapy Services Does Physiophi Offer?

Just as some health challenges are unique to women, each woman’s challenges are unique to her. A professional consultation with Physiophi can diagnose and treat the following conditions (among others):

Diastasis of the rectus abdominis (DRAM)

Pelvic Organ Prolapse

What Happens in a Women's Health Physiotherapy Session?

We understand that women’s health issues can be sensitive and awkward to discuss. It is normal to be nervous for your appointment. This is why we place the utmost importance on confidentiality, respect and consent – your consultation will only proceed as far as you are comfortable.

The average consultation will begin with a conversation about the symptoms you are experiencing and what your physical goals are. We will then conduct a holistic assessment focused on your posture, movement, and core. If necessary, we may request to conduct an internal pelvic floor assessment – but this will only proceed if we have your explicit consent.

From there, we will design a personalised treatment plan with exercises, apply some hands-on therapy for immediate relief, and give you practical advice to manage your symptoms between sessions
